Minister: Armenia’s membership in EEU requires more active cooperation with Russian partners
A delegation led by Armenian Justice Minister Hovhannes Manukyan went on a working visit to Russia on Thursday, the press service of the Justice Ministry said.
The Minister met with Gennady Kornienko, director of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia.
Mr Kornienko said that Armenia is an important partner for Russia.
Hovhannes Manukyan presented the reforms implemented by the Armenian Justice Ministry in the penitentiary system and the human rights situation in this area. The Minister noted that Armenia’s membership in the Eurasian Economic Union implies more active cooperation with Russian partners.
The sides discussed a range of issues of mutual interest, in particular training and retraining of penitentiary specialists, introduction of new security systems, as well as issues related to probation service.
