NATO Secretary General: There is no alternative to political solution in Karabakh conflict
At the meeting of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in The Hague, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said he was concerned about incidents and violence in Nagorno Karabakh, reports "RIA Novosti".
"I am concerned about the recent incidents and violence in Nagorno Karabakh. It emphasizes that there can be no military solution to the conflict," Stoltenberg noted.
According to him, there is no alternative to the political solution. "I do not see any direct role for NATO, but NATO supports the Minsk Group process in order to create conditions for sustainable peaceful solutions through negotiations in Nagorno Karabakh," said the secretary general.
The Armed Forces of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic carried out a special operation on Saturday at the crash site of the Nagorno Karabakh’s Mi-24 helicopter downed by Azerbaijan on November 12. As a result of the operation, the body of one of the crew members, the remains of two pilots as well as some parts of the helicopter were removed from the crash site. The Azerbaijani army suffered two losses. The NKR Defense Army had no losses.
A MI-24 helicopter of the NKR Air Force was shot down on November 12 in the airspace in the eastern direction of the Karabakh-Azerbaijani border due to a ceasefire violation by the Azerbaijani armed forces. The area where the helicopter was shot down was at a very short distance from the Line of Contact. The enemy opened heavy fire from guns of various calibers at the incident site.
