US pursues agenda of Syria destruction – analyst
A political commentator says Washington and its allies have spared no efforts to inflict damage and destruction on Syria.
Soraya Sepahpour Ulrich, an independent researcher and writer with a focus on US foreign policy, said in an interview with Press TV that Washington was furthering its vicious agenda of “completely destroying Syria” and toppling the legitimate government of President Bashar al-Assad.
The analyst added that the administration of US President Barack Obama has gone too far in financing and arming ISIL and other terrorist groups across the Middle East.
The commentator also expressed astonishment over falling of US arms and weapons into the hands of the ISIL Takfiri terrorists.
Last month, a video emerged from northern Syria showing the weapons the United States says is sending to Kurdish forces end up in the hands of the ISIL terrorists.
The footage shows masked militants inspecting the military equipment which was airdropped in areas controlled by ISIL near the Syrian border city of Kobani.
Commenting on the Turkish government’s support for ISIL, the analyst stated that Turkey remains the main route for ISIL terrorists to enter Iraq and Syria.
She also referred to the ongoing US-led airstrikes against ISIL positions and said that Washington is violating the international law by flying its warplanes over the space of a sovereign country.
Washington says it is striking ISIL positions in both Iraq and Syria, but there is skepticism on both sides of the border about the real objective of the airstrikes.
