US experiencing relative decline in power – academic
The United States is experiencing a relative decline in power due to the wrong policies pursued by the administration of President Barack Obama, says an Iranian academic.
Mohammad Marandi, a professor at the University of Tehran, said in an interview with Press TV that the balance of power was shifting sharply against the United States.
He said the United States is “a declining power in relative terms.”
“It (the US) has problems at home and abroad,” Marandi added.
Marandi blamed President Obama for pursuing the anti-Iran policies taken under the former president, George W. Bush.
The Iranian academic also said that the illegal sanctions imposed by the US has directly targeted the Iranian people and led to death of the terminally ill patients across Iran.
Marandi went on to say that Washington’s “unholy alliance” with the Saudi government in Riyadh and other backers of militant groups including the ISIL Takfiri terrorists has contributed to the United States’ declining power.
“The United States’ catastrophic and unholy alliance with Saudis, Turkish President [Recep Tayyip Erdogan], the Qataris and others really have devastated this region and created monsters organizations and extremists,” he said.
ISIL controls some parts of Syria and Iraq. It has been carrying out horrific acts of violence, including public decapitations and crucifixions, against all communities in the two countries, including Shias, Sunnis, Kurds, and Christians.
