Shirinyan: Relaunch of Abkhazian railway will make Turkish blockade useless
The reoperation of the Abkhazian railway is advantageous to Armenia and it will make useless Turkey’s blockade of Armenia, political analyst Levon Shirinyan told a news conference on Friday.
According to him, Armenia jointly with the Russian side should achieve the relaunch of the railway.
Shirinyan noted that the authorities of Armenia and Georgia should actively negotiate on this matter.
“The Abkhazian railway’s operation is also beneficial to Russia and Iran as it will connect these two countries and provide Russia with access to Bandar Abbas port city located on the coast of the Persian Gulf,” Shirinyan added.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that by common consent, Russia and Abkhazia may organize Sukhumi-Tbilisi-Yerevan railway communication. In his words, the implementation of such projects will allow creating conditions for the development of relations among all the interested parties.
