Lebanese Army arrests ISIS leader Baghdadi’s wife, son
Lebanese authorities have arrested one of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi’s wives and their son on the Lebanon-Syria border, a security source told The Daily Star Tuesday.
The source said Lebanese Army Intelligence arrested Baghdadi's first wife and his son on the northern Abboudieh border crossing six days ago.
The source did not give further details, but said the spouse is believed to be Baghdadi's first wife.
Local daily As-Safir said Army Intelligence, in coordination with Western intelligence agencies, managed to arrest one of Baghdadi’s wives at one of the border crossings while traveling with a fake passport with her son.
She was taken to the Lebanese Defense Ministry where she is being interrogated, the report added.
The report said the Lebanese Army remained quiet about the arrest over the past few days. As-Safir considered the catch of the “big fish” a major blow to ISIS.
The short report did not identify the wife or her son by name.
