Chorrord Ishkhanutyun: Armenian dram’s depreciation will not cause problems
The calculated value of the dollar in the 2015 draft state budget of Armenia is 411 drams, but its current value is 450 drams as a result of the national currency’s depreciation.
The correspondent of Chorrord Ishkhanutyun asked Gagik Minasyan, the head of the parliamentary standing committee on financial, credit and budgetary affairs, why appropriate amendments were not made prior to the state budget’s adoption.
“Changes in the dram-dollar exchange rate take place constantly. They may occur in November, December, and in January. To avoid discrepancies, the law indicates the exchange rate of the day when the draft state budget was formed,” he said.
Minasyan added that there will be no problems due to the dram’s depreciation. “The dram may recover tomorrow,” he said.
