Azerbaijani government throws out Peace Corps
American organization Peace Corps has completed its activities in Azerbaijan. According to the US chargé d'affaires in Azerbaijan Derek Hogan, the Government of Azerbaijan after 11 years of work has stated that it sees no need for the activities of the organization in the country, "Report.az" reports.
"Of course, we were a bit disappointed by this decision, but still we are grateful to the Government of Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijani people for keeping all the doors open during these 11 years for the Peace Corps,” Hogan said.
Note that the Peace Corps is a US humanitarian organization that sends volunteers to disaster-stricken countries for assistance. In Russia, the "Peace Corps" acted since 1992 by agreement of the governments.
