A poll about Facebook, the social network, has been conducted among the Azerbaijani MPs by the Azerbaijani site Modern.az.

“People are engaged in perversion and immorality in social networks. That is the reason why I don’t use them. People are being insulted there because of personal interests. I pity that sort of people, I hate them,” Hadi Rajabli, an MP, said.

Another MP Bakhitjar Sadigov who is also the editor-in-chief of the newspaper “Azerbaijan,” does not use Facebook or other social networks either. He finds that Facebook contradicts the national mentality of Azerbaijan. “People don’t stand for each other’s honour and dignity. We’ve got a mentality. There are opinions that shouldn’t be made public. That is why I don’t think that social network is my place,” he stated.
