SCPEC head presents results of commodity markets monitoring
On the whole, the price changes in the country are in line with the currency fluctuations, Artak Shaboyan, head of Armenia’s State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition (SCPEC), said at a cabinet meeting on Thursday.
In his words, SCPEC monitored the commodity markets where large companies act. In particular, the markets of sugar, butter, vegetable oil, poultry, coffee, and flour were monitored.
According to the official, the monitoring also focused on the dairy market. Prices for several types of dairy products have increased, which is also due to the fact that local dairy companies have reduced production volumes, he said.
Shaboyan noted that the depreciation of the Armenian dram caused a price hike in the country. Meanwhile, he said that the studies show that the price changes are within 2-13 percent.
He added that the Commission will continue monitoring the situation on commodity markets ahead of New Year holidays.
