US justice system oppressing blacks - American activist
The US justice system will not take legal action against police who have been involved in recent killings of blacks, says an American activist.
Yejide Orunmila, a civil rights activist from Washington, said in an interview with Press TV that the ruling system in the United States was built to oppress the members of the African-American community.
“The United States justice was built on oppression of the black people,” she said.
The commentator also stated that the US judiciary “wouldn’t indict” the criminal police officers.
The blacks and people of color should not expect justice from grand juries, police department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and any other government entities, she stated.
A grand jury recently decided not to indict a white New York City police officer who choked to death unarmed black man Eric Garner in July.
The decision triggered anger among African-Americans, who had already been demonstrating against the fatal shooting of unarmed black teenager Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, in August and another jury’s decision not to press charges against the shooter in Brown’s case.
Orunmila emphasized utilizing a “concrete strategy” which could shield the blacks against discrimination.
Commenting on the ongoing protests in the United States against racial killings, the American commentator said the country has not seen such mass protests recently.
