168 Hours: Kazakhstan will not impede Armenia’s EEU accession
Kazakhstan will not try to impede Armenia’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), Konstantin Kalachev, head of Russia-based Political Expert Group, told 168 Hours newspaper.
“Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev will pay a visit to Kazakhstan in the coming days. I believe that in addition to discussing cooperation in oil and gas sector, he will also touch upon EEU-related matters.
“I think that despite the issues of principle Kazakhstan raised in connection with Armenia’s entry into the EEU, it cannot be considered as an opponent of this integration,” he said.
According to the expert, Kazakhstan will not try to impede Armenia’s accession to the union, but it is necessary to wait for Medvedev’s visit to see how the processes will develop.
