CRONIMET deputy director: We did not expect such active participation
The first Table Tennis Open Tournament wrapped up at Spartak sports complex of Yerevan on Sunday. The tournament ran three days.
Speaking to Panorama.am, Diana Avdalyan, deputy director of CRONIMET Charity Foundation, the organizer and sponsor of the event, said that she is impressed by the active participation.
“It is very impressive as we did not expect such active participation. Frankly speaking, we did not know that we have so many good sportsmen. I believe there is a great potential and we will try to realize it,” she said.
Diana Avdalyan noted that the Foundation plans to make the tournament traditional. “This was our first experience, but we plan to make the tournament annual.”
CRONIMET Charity Foundation awarded monetary prizes to the tournament winners. In the children’s competition, the sportsmen who took first, second and third places received 100,000 drams, 80,000 drams and 50,000 drams respectively. In the adults’ competition, the prizes were: 150,000 drams, 200,000 drams and 250,000 drams for the bronze, silver and gold medal winners respectively.
