Invasion of Afghanistan based on unjustifiable pretext - ex-US Marine
A former American Marine says the US-led invasion of Afghanistan was carried out under no justifiable pretext, leading to a long-drawn-out war in the country.
Kenneth O’Keefe, currently a peace activist, said in an interview with Press TV from London that it was not justifiable that the United States invade Afghanistan in 2001 as the September 11 attacks had not been carried out by Afghans.
“The war itself was based on false pretext,” the activist said.
The United States and its allies invaded Afghanistan in 2001 as part of Washington’s so-called war on terror. The offensive removed the Taliban from power, but insecurity remains across the country.
Commenting on the real culprits behind the 9/11 attacks in New York and Washington, D.C., O’Keefe said some neocon elements and the Israeli spy agency Mossad were behind the “false flag operation” to advance their imperial objectives.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the former US Marine said the CIA spy agency used Afghanistan for the expansion of ‘black ops’ and drug trade.
“Everybody knows that the CIA is probably the biggest drug running institution on the planet,” he said.
Drug production in Afghanistan has increased dramatically since the US-led invasion.
Several UN reports indicate that Afghan opium is having a devastating impact on the world, killing thousands in consumer countries.
