NKR Defense Ministry: Peaceful settlements have never been target for Defense Army
On January 7 and on the night of January 8, Azerbaijan violated the ceasefire over 400 times at the Line of Contact between the Karabakh and Azerbaijani troops.
5,500 shots from guns of various calibers, including 60-mm mortars and RPG-7 and GP-25 grenade launchers, were fired at Karabakh frontline positions, the press service of the Nagorno-Karabakh Defense Ministry said.
Frontline units of the NKR Defense Army confidently perform their military duty and take response actions only when necessary.
Also, the NKR Defense Ministry denies Azerbaijani media reports that Karabakh forces are bombing peaceful settlements in the territory of Azerbaijan.
“Peaceful settlements have never been a target for the Defense Army. Such a behavior has been and remains the “monopoly” of Azerbaijani forces,” the Defense Ministry said in a statement, adding that the regular bombings and shellings of Armenian settlements - located near the Armenian-Azerbaijani border - by the enemy are a proof of this.
