ISIL manipulated into destabilizing Middle East - commentator
The ISIL Takfiri terrorists have been manipulated by world powers into waging a sectarian war to destabilize the Middle East, says a commentator.
Ibrahim Mousawi, a political commentator from Beirut, said in an interview with Press TV that ISIL “has been manipulated by the world powers in order to distort the image of Islam at first stage, and, on the other hand, they want to destabilize the whole region and they want to sow the seeds of discord between Shiites and Sunnis.”
“We know very well that some arms have been dropped in the military sites of the ISIL in order to help them by the (US-led) coalition forces. So instead of forcing them, instead of fighting them, instead of cornering them and putting them into a place where they couldn’t carry such atrocities, they are supporting them,” he stated.
Mousawi further noted that all the atrocities being carried out by ISIL are “a manipulative action” and they should not come as “a surprise.”
The commentator argued that the US-led coalition against ISIL “has been a propaganda from the very beginning,” adding that “they have not been able to produce any tangible results.”
The ISIL terrorists are currently in control of some areas across Syria and Iraq, where they have been carrying out horrific acts of violence.
The Iraqi army, backed by Shia fighters and Sunni tribes, has so far managed to make many gains in the fight against the terrorists.
The coalition airstrikes, led by the United States and targeting what is said to be ISIL positions, began in early August last year in Iraq; and late September in Syria. Locals say the attacks have not been working.
