Ukraine, Germany sign deal on 50 million euro loan to Kiev
Germany and Ukraine signed an agreement to provide a 500 million euro purpose loan to Kiev, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy said on Wednesday, TASS reported.
The agreement was signed by Ukrainian Economic Development and Trade Minister Aivaras Abromavicius and Finance Minister Natalya Yaresko who are members of the delegation led by Prime Minister Arseny Yatsenyuk and State Secretary of the German Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy Matthias Machnig.
“The agreement regulates political aspects for providing the loan that Angela Merkel pledged to allocate to Kiev at end of August,” the ministry said.
Earlier in the day, Yatsenyuk met with German Vice-Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel. The parties talked about the results of the parliamentary elections in Ukraine and the formation of the new Ukrainian government.
“Germany will continue support for Ukraine on its difficult way towards political and economic stabilisation,” Gabriel said.
