Hovhannisyan: Armenian forces allowed Azerbaijan to retrieve saboteur’s body
The Republic of Armenia armed forces permitted Azerbaijan to retrieve the body of one of the members of its subversive group, Armenian Defense Ministry spokesman Artsrun Hovhannisyan said in a Facebook post.
“The tension continued for some time after the incident in Tavush. Armenian units appropriately responded to all shots fired. The Republic of Armenia armed forces, in line with the international humanitarian norms, permitted Azerbaijan to retrieve the body of one of the saboteurs from the territory between the [Armenian and Azerbaijani] military positions,” the spokesman wrote.
On January 11, at around 5:30 pm, Azerbaijani forces attempted a subversive attack along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, near Baghanis village in Tavush province. The advance of the enemy’s troops was detected in time. The Armenian army’s rapid response unit neutralized the subversive operation. The body of one of the members of the enemy’s subversive group was in the territory between the [Armenian and Azerbaijani] military positions. A shepherd, Seryozha Sargsyan, 79, was killed during the exchange of fire.
