President holds consultation meeting in connection with Gyumri murder
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan conducted an urgent consultation meeting with heads of law enforcement bodies in the wake of the murder of a family in Gyumri, the presidential press service reported.
The importance of clarification of details, finding those guilty and holding them accountable was underscored.
“The commanders of the Russian military base in Armenia fully cooperate with the Armenian law enforcement agencies and provide effective support to the investigation.
Under the personal control of the President, all necessary measures are being taken to find the person who committed the barbaric murder.
The President offers his deepest condolences to the victims’ relatives,” the presidential press service says.
As reported earlier, six members of one family, including a two-year-old child, were shot dead in Armenia’s second largest city of Gyumri. A six months old baby was hospitalized in critical condition and underwent surgery.
By the order of Armenian Police Chief Vladimir Gasparyan, a special group has been set up to investigate the murder. A criminal case was opened under Article 104 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (murder).
A soldier of Russian military base is suspected of killing the family. The suspect’s name is Valery Permyakov. Police are looking for him.
