Baby wounded in Gyumri remains in critical condition
The six-month-old child, who survived the murder in the Armenian city of Gyumri on Monday, remains in critical condition, the press service of Armenia’s Ministry of Health said.
Seryozha Avetisyan is in an intensive care department at Gyumri's Australian hospital after undergoing a surgery. The baby is hooked to a life support machine, and is in a post-operative shock.
The issue of moving the child to Yerevan is under discussion. He was hospitalized with stab wounds on the chest. The 40-minute surgery was successful. The baby is under the direct supervision of the Health Minister.
Six members of one family, including a two-year-old child, were shot dead in Gyumri on Monday.
By the order of Armenian Police Chief Vladimir Gasparyan, a special group has been set up to investigate the murder. A criminal case was opened under Article 104 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (murder).
The suspect in the murder, Russian serviceman Valery Permyakov was detained by Russian border guards overnight while attempting to cross the Armenian-Turkish border near Yerazgavors village in Armenia’s Shirak province.
