Suspect in Gyumri murder testifies
Valery Permyakov, a serviceman of the 102nd Russian military unit stationed in the Armenian city of Gyumri, the main suspect in the murder of a family in Gyumri, testified on Tuesday, Sona Truzyan, a spokeswoman for the Investigative Committee, told Panorama.am.
She added that deputy head of Investigative Committee Vahagn Harutyunyan is in Gyumri.
Six members of one family, including a two-year-old child, were shot dead in Gyumri on Monday. A six months old baby was hospitalized in critical condition and underwent surgery.
By the order of Armenian Police Chief Vladimir Gasparyan, a special group has been set up to investigate the murder. A criminal case was opened under Article 104 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (murder).
Valery Permyakov was detained by Russian border guards overnight while attempting to cross the Armenian-Turkish border near Yerazgavors village in Armenia’s Shirak province.
