Preparations go on for Syrian meeting in Moscow
Nobody had refused to participate in the inter-Syrian meeting in Moscow. Preparations for the meeting were continuing, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Friday, TASS reported.
“The process of preparations for the Moscow meeting is going on actively. We have received no refusals,” Lavrov said.
The situation is not easy. It is the first attempt during the period of the Syrian crisis to bring together various opposition representatives, who are known and have authority, Lavrov said.
There have been no such attempts before, and it is clear that every opposition group tries to strengthen its positions and be ready to discuss issues that will be on the agenda. “Tactical maneuvring is under way,” he said.
“We will answer the question about participants in the meeting when they arrive in Moscow. No final refusals have been received from anybody for the present,” Lavrov added.
