Russian MPs to arrive in Armenia today
A group of members of the Russian State Duma will arrive in Gyumri on Thursday to honor the Avetisyan family that was cruelly murdered on January 12.
United Russia MP Boris Reznik told RIA Novosti that the Russian parliamentarians will lay wreaths at the graves of the seven members of the slaughtered family. They also plan to meet with the residents of Gyumri.
Irina Rodnina, Oleg Lebedev and Mikhail Krotov will arrive in Armenia.
“Meetings are planned in Armenian parliament. Then there will be a meeting with the authorities of Gyumri and a meeting with the Gyumri residents. We must talk to them and clarify our positions,” Reznik added.
Six members of one family were found dead in their house in Gyumri on January 12. A six-month-old child was hospitalized with stab wounds. He died in hospital on Monday.
Valery Permyakov, a serviceman of the 102nd Russian military base stationed in Gyumri, the main suspect in the murder, was detained by Russian border guards while attempting to cross the Armenian-Turkish border near Yerazgavors village in Armenia’s Shirak province. Permyakov is held in custody at the Russian military base. He is charged with murder and desertion while carrying a weapon given to him for military service.
