Turkish FM suspects almost 8,000 people of attempting to join IS
Almost 8,000 people from 90 countries are suspected of trying to join the Islamic State terrorist group, Turkey's Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson told journalists Wednesday, Sputnik News reported.
Turkey has a list containing the names of 7,833 people from 90 countries who are suspected of trying to join the Islamic State, Tanju Bilgic said at a press conference.
Over a thousand foreigners, trying to illegally cross the border with Syria, have been deported from Turkey, according to Bilgic.
Ankara's willingness to fight terrorism should not be questioned by anyone, especially since the IS terrorist activity affects Turkey itself, the top diplomat stressed.
