Timtal: Azerbaijani authorities are not pleased by cartoon of ‘Cipollino’
Blogger with “Timtal” pseudonym referring to the topic of the so-called "banned books and films for children," published on its website an article entitled “Cartoon "The Adventures of Cipollino” banned to present in Azerbaijan”. He notes in his article that as his fellows claim the cartoon is banned for the national television channels of the country.
Trying to understand the reasons of the ban, the blogger reminds that in the original story of the Italian writer Gianni Rodari as well as in the cartoon the power is mocked and criticized. "On the other hand - in the collection of Azerbaijani fairy tales, which I read as a child – there were also a lot of lecheries, murders, abuse of women, and all kinds of bloody scenes," the author notes.
As the author notes, despite the fact that "The Adventures of Cipollino" can be viewed also online, and the book is still there, the reason for the ban of this cartoon in Azerbaijan is still not clear. "Actually, it is clear why, the power in the story (and in the animation as well) is mocked, criticized, and of course, everything is written and illustrated so that you take the side of the poor and Chippolino itself," –the blogger writes.
