Gyumri case: Public defender appointed for Avetisyan family’s legal successors
Yegor Adamyan, Lusine Avetisyan, and Rita Petrosyan, the legal successors of the victims in the case of the murder of the Avetisyan family in Gyumri, had applied to President of the Armenian Chamber of Advocates Ara Zohrabyan with a request to provide them with free legal aid.
Under the January 30 decision of the Deputy Head of the Public Defender’s Office, a public defender was appointed for the legal successors of the victims, Yegor Adamyan, Lusine Avetisyan, and Rita Petrosyan, the press service of the Chamber of Advocates said, according to Iravaban.net.
Considering the responses of the advocates for protecting victims’ legal successors, the protection of the interests of the other successors will be organized by involving other advocates on a voluntary basis.
The Chamber of Advocates will ensure the independent work of the public defenders of the rights of the defendant and the legal successors of the victims in this criminal case in order to exclude the possibility of conflicts of interest.
