Spain’s Burjassot city recognizes Armenian Genocide
The municipal council of Burjassot city of Spain has approved a motion recognizing the Armenian Genocide.
The motion was presented by Compromis party, the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry reports.
The motion said that this year marks the centenary of the Armenian Genocide - the first genocide of the 20th century. “In 1915-1921 massacres and deportations of Armenians occurred in the territory of present-day Turkey, in particular under the rule of Young Turks, as a result of which 1.5 million Armenians died and about 2 million were forced to leave their homes, creating a large Armenian Diaspora,” it said.
