German foreign ministry: Berlin currently doesn’t see alternatives to Minsk group format
“Germany is deeply concerned with the regular violations of the ceasefire agreement signed in 1994,” the press service of the German Foreign Ministry told the Azerbaijani information agency “APA.”
As the article has it, Germany will maintain the cooperation towards the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict the next year when it takes up the OSCE chairmanship. “As a Minsk group OSCE member, Germany consistently supports the co-chairs’ efforts. We remain totally committed to the conflict settlement according to the principles of the territorial integrity, peaceful resolution of disputes and self-determination,” the statement reads.
As “APA” reports, The German Foreign Ministry stresses that Berlin currently doesn’t see alternatives to Minsk group format which is also supported by the sides of the conflict. “Meanwhile, European Union should be effectively involved into this process to support the OSCE Minsk group efforts. For example, EU can participate in the process of the settlement through credible measures,” the statement notes.
According to the Azerbaijani information agency, expressing its concern regarding the recent escalation of the tension, Foreign Ministry of Germany urges the sides to a more careful analyses of the monitoring mechanism violations during the prolonged dialogue. “One of the main conditions of the Minsk process continuation is the compliance and support of the ceasefire regime,” the statement reads.
