Zhoghovurd: Armavia 11th among Armenia’s major taxpayers
Armenia’s former national airline, Armavia, is 11th among the country’s 1,000 top taxpayers in 2014, Zhoghovurd writes.
The air company, belonging to oligarch Mikhail Baghdasarov, stopped operating flights on April 1, 2013, and was declared bankrupt last autumn.
The newspaper studied the period of Armavia’s prosperity, but even at that time, it was not among the 20 biggest taxpayers. “In fact, by paying off a considerable part of the debts, it was automatically included among the top taxpayers,” the newspaper notes.
