Zhamanak: Armenian banks should provide loans in drams only
2015 will be a difficult year in terms of economy. The trade market has become passive due to the depreciation of the Armenian dram and the banks have suspended most transactions, Zhamanak writes.
Hayk Mnatsakanyan, head of the Department of Economics at Yerevan State University (YSU), said that state policy is needed for the strengthening of the national currency and full use of the loan portfolio. In his words, the banks should provide loans in drams only – this would contribute to the strengthening of the national currency. In this way, the economy will stabilize, the dram will strengthen, the construction sector will overcome the crisis and the employment level will rise.
