“Artist by Destiny”. Lilit Khachatryan opens her first art exhibition (Photos, video)
The first solo exhibition of artist Lilit Khachatryan -- entitled “Revival” -- opened on February 5 at the Artists’ Union of Armenia. The exhibition has 18 paintings of the artist. Life.panorama.am spoke to the artist.
«To be honest, I am a lawyer by education, and started painting only three years ago. I had so much accumulated inside, that couldn't resist any longer. I haven't even been going to painting classes in my childhood. But now I felt the desire to paint is very strong. I think it's a matter of chance not that I started painting, but that I haven't been doing that before. I realized I am an artist from inside and jurisprudence is losing ground. The curator of the exhibition is Pietro Franesi, the Director of New York Biennale Art and Dubai Art Biennial», Lilit Khachatryan told Life.panorama.am.
Lilit Khachtryan is new in the world of Art. She became an Artist when she was in a middle of her growing lawyer career path. Lilit gave up her main profession and devoted herself to the Art calling this turning point in her life as Revival.
“The Art is my life. I found myself here. One doesn’t have to suppress the light that comes from within. I went and met the light and understood that it never could be otherwise. I am artist not by profession, but by Destiny”, said Lilit Khachatryan.
“Lilit paints Nature. And her works in the exhibition question conventional means and methods of representing the natural world and metaphorically embody both the paradoxical longing to fuse with nature and the threat embedded in such fusion” – these are the words of Pietro Franesi, the Director of New York Biennale Art and Dubai Art Biennial and the curator of the Exhibition.
The exhibition is organized within the framework of New York Biennale Art and Dubai Art Biennial, and will be open until February 10, 2015.
