Five killed in China fireworks shop explosion
The death toll from an explosion at a fireworks shop in east China's Zhejiang Province on Thursday, the first day of the new Chinese lunar year, has risen to five, Xinhua reports, local authorities.
The accident happened at about 4 p.m. at Xiangzhu Township, Yongkang City, when the shop owner, surnamed Chen, set off a firecracker for trial but ignited the fireworks stored outside the shop.
The victims included three children and two adults. Another three injured people are in a stable condition.
Chen has been detained by police.
