Sharmazanov: New phase in condemnation of genocides begins
Armenian National Assembly Deputy Speaker Edward Sharmazanov on Wednesday received members of the Yazidi community of Armenia, Hamlet Smoyan, Boris Tamoyan, Rustam Bakoyan, Sashik Sultanyan, and Mame Amiryan, the parliament’s press service reported.
The focus of the meeting was on the condemnation of the crimes committed against different nations.
Mr Sharmazanov once again condemned the mass violence committed several months ago against the Yazidi nation in Iraq’s north, noting that Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan spoke about this from the UN rostrum, and condemned this violence.
The members of the Yazidi community, for their part, highly appreciated the President’s speech at the UN General Assembly.
During the debate, an agreement was reached to organize a photo exhibition at the Armenian National Assembly, which will present the mass violence perpetrated against the Yazidis in Iraq. Besides, a working group will be created to study the historical facts and the violence committed against the Yazidis in different times.
Edward Sharmazanov said that a new phase in condemnation of genocides begins from 2015.
