Iran, Armenia have no obstacle to develop ties – Iranian official
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister said on Wednesday that Iran and Armenia have historical background of relations and there is no obstacle in the way of strengthening and developing ties between the two countries.
Morteza Sarmadi made the remarks in a farewell meeting with Armenian outgoing Ambassador to Tehran Grigor Arakelyan, Iran's state-run IRNA news agency reported.
Sarmadi said that relations with the neighboring states have special importance for Iran.
Arakelyan, for his part, said that during six years of his tenure in Tehran, he made his best to develop mutual ties, especially after the new Armenian government took office, he intensified the efforts for enhanced cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
