Rep. Sherman urges Secretary Kerry to 'show courage' and recognize Armenian Genocide
House Foreign Affairs Committee senior Democrat, Rep. Brad Sherman (D-CA) called on Secretary of State John Kerry to have the "courage" to speak truthfully about the Armenian Genocide during this Armenian Genocide centennial year.
According to Armenpress, the statement came during Secretary Kerry's testimony before the House Foreign Affairs Committee on February 25, 2015. “As Senator Kerry you championed the recognition of the Armenian Genocide. We are now about to have 100th anniversary and I’d hope that you would show the courage that you are personally known for and on April 24 use the word genocide to describe what happened in Anatolia one hundred years ago,” said Rep. Brad Sherman.
Secretary Kerry will be offering written responses to this and other questions submitted by Congressman Sherman and other Committee members in the upcoming weeks.
