Karabakh Liberation Organization members threatening Armenians caught in Azerbaijan for possession of weapons
Two activists of the so-called “Karabakh Liberation Organization” (KLO), Zulfugar Ibrahimov and Vugar Aliyev, have been taken into custody in the Azerbaijani town Terter, head of KLO Akif Nagi told the newspaper Yeni Musavat, the Azerbaijani information outlet Haqqin.az reports.
Weapons and ammunition were found during a search in Ibrahimov’s and Aliyev’s houses, the outlet reports. The detention was carried out by the officers of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan.
Akif Nagi has more than once spoken out expressing threats against the Armenians. In particular, he has recently declared that his organization would not give the representatives of Armenia the possibility to arrive in Baku and take part in the European Games.
The above mentioned so-called “Karabakh Liberation Organization” is notorious for its provocations against the Armenian sportsmen and delegates who arrived in Azerbaijan on different occasions. In June 2014 a group of the members of this so-called “Karabakh Liberation Organization” held a protest in front of the complex Flame Towers in Baku, where the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Standing Committee meeting was on. The participants expressed their protest against the participation of the Armenian MPs in the meeting. Earlier in March, they spread a statement threatening to expel from Baku the representative of Armenia in CIS states Armed Forces chief-of-general-staff’s meeting. In 2011 KLO activists got into the sport complex after H. Aliyev and started to throw stones at the Armenian sportsmen who were taking part in the World Boxing Championship.
