One killed, over 20 injured after car bomb explosion in Damascus suburb
At least one person died and over 20 others were injured after a car bomb exploded near a police building in the northern suburb of Damascus, Syria, a Sputnik correspondent said Tuesday, citing a witness.
"One person died and 24 others were injured, including five women and four children, as a result of a car bomb explosion near the entrance to the police building in the city of Al-Tall in the suburbs of Damascus," the witness said.
Al-Tall is controlled by armed groups that are fighting for power in parts of the capital's suburbs. A similar terror attack took place in Al-Tall in February, when six people were killed near the city's mosque.
The Syrian government forces have been confronting militants belonging to different armed groups since the start of a civil war in 2011. The conflict in Syria has already claimed lives of more than 200,000 people, according to UN estimates.
