Army chopper crashes in Florida: Eleven servicemen missing
Two army Blackhawk helicopters were performing a routine nighttime exercise in northwest Florida when the accident occured, a US military spokesman said as cited by NBC news. Eleven people were on board and now missing, Sputnik reported.
According to Eglin Air Force Base spokesman Andy Bourland, a search-and-rescue operation was launched after the base was informed of the crash. The rescue team has since located debris strewn along a beach between Pensacola and Destin.
All personnel of the second Blackhawk chopper were accounted for, the spokesman added. The is still unclear what caused the crush, but the officials say of the "weather issues" at the time of the accident.
