Euronest PA session participants visit Armenian Genocide Memorial
The participants of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly Fourth Session on Monday visited Tsitsernakaberd Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex accompanied by Artak Zakaryan, head of the Armenian delegation to the PA, the Armenian parliament’s press service reports.
They laid a wreath and flowers at the memorial to the victims of the 1915 Armenian Genocide, and paid tribute to one and a half million innocent victims’ memory.
Tatjana Zdanoka, Member of the European Parliament, representing Latvia, said that she heard about the Armenian Genocide when she was a student. She noted that here one is seized with anger and rage and thinks how it is possible to forget God’s commandment to love your neighbor.
Tatjana Zdanoka also noted that a cross-stone-monument dedicated to the Armenian Genocide is placed in Riga, at which they pay tribute to the memory of the victims together with the representatives of the Armenian community in Latvia on April 24 of every year.
Jaromir Stetina, Member of the European Parliament, representing the Czech Republic, stated that he has been to Armenia for several times and each time he visited Tsitsernakaberd. As he shares the Armenian people’s grief and pain, he is ready to support the decisions and documents concerning the recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
He expressed his gratitude to the European People’s Party (EPP) for adopting the Resolution on the Armenian Genocide.
