Vigen Sargsyan: Armenia has never put forward preconditions for normalization of relations with Turkey
International struggle must be carried out against genocides – crimes against humanity, Vigen Sargsyan, head of the Armenian presidential administration, coordinator of the events dedicated to the Armenian Genocide Centennial, stated during “At the Foot of Mount Ararat” media forum on Wednesday in Yerevan.
“As a nation having experienced genocide, we are ready to assist the international community in keeping this issue in the focus of its attention,” Mr Sargsyan said.
Present-day Turkey continues to deny the crime it perpetrated one hundred years ago, the official said.
In addition, Turkey carries out a hostile policy within international organizations by supporting all anti-Armenian initiatives of Azerbaijan, Sargsyan said.
According to him, denial of the Genocide is the final stage of this crime. “Turkey conducts a hostile policy towards Armenia. The closed Armenian-Turkish border is the last closed border in Europe. Its aim is to create economic difficulties for Armenia to make it more yielding in the Nagorno-Karabakh issue,” he said.
Speaking about Armenian-Turkish relations, Vigen Sargsyan stressed that Armenia has never put forward preconditions for normalization of its relations with Turkey.
