Tsipras visit to Berlin to intensify tensions around Greek issue – diplomat
Tensions around the Greek issue will run high after Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras' visit to Germany, Russia's permanent envoy to the European Union said Monday, Sputnik reported.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Tsipras are to hold a one-on-one meeting in Berlin on Monday evening. Tsipras is expected to propose a new batch of reforms to secure another bailout tranche.
"Intensity of emotions is high. But it is not only about Germany. Greece's economic issues are being solved within the Euro Group. The challenge [for Greece] is not only to solve the Greek debt problem but also to perform the pre-election promises. The situation in Greece is deeply regrettable," Vladimir Chizhov said during a video conference from Brussels with International Information Agency Rossiya Segodnya.
