ICRC conducting dialogue with responsible officials – Amatuni
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is informed about the Karabakh soldier’s crossing into the territory of Azerbaijan on Sunday.
“The ICRC has been informed about the incident. In compliance with our commitment, we are conducting dialogue with the responsible officials,” Zara Amatuni, head of communication programs of the ICRC Yerevan Office, told Panorama.am.
She added that no meeting was held with the serviceman.
At about 1:50 pm on Sunday contract serviceman Andranik Grigoryan deserted his position, at a military unit in the eastern direction of the Nagorno-Karabakh Defense Army, and crossed into the territory of Azerbaijan, the NKR Defense Ministry reports. An investigation is underway to clarify details of the incident. A criminal case was opened.
