Armenia to mark December 9 as Remembrance Day of Genocides Victims
The Armenian National Assembly on Wednesday unanimously adopted on first reading the draft law on making amendments to the Law on Holidays and Commemoration Days, offering to mark December 9 as Remembrance Day of Genocides Victims.
The bill is co-authored by Artak Zakaryan, Zaruhi Postanjyan, Koryun Nahapetyan, Tevan Poghosyan, Shirak Torosyan and Alexander Arzumanyan.
The date was chosen since the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on December 9, 1948.
