Haykakan Zhamanak: Former expert of parliament’s internal affairs committee to run for Abovyan mayor
Vahagn Gevorgyan, a former expert of the Armenian National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs, an expert of the National Assembly’s Local Self-Government Committee, will be a candidate in mayoral elections in Abovyan city due in May, Haykakan Zhamanak reports. Gevorgyan confirmed this report to the newspaper.
“The peculiarity of these elections is that non-party candidates are mostly expected to run. The Republican Party seems to have no intention to nominate a candidate, although this issue is still under discussion within the party,” the newspaper says.
