Chorrord Ishkhanutyun: 5.1 percent inflation in Armenia
Armenia’s inflation was 5.1 percent in the first quarter of this year compared with the same period of last year, Chorrord Ishkhanutyun reports.
Prices of food products rose by 6.7 percent, prices of consumer goods rose by 5.8 percent and non-food products by 4.4 percent. According to the National Statistical Service, however, in total, the prices went down by 0.1 percent in March compared with February.
But the prices in stores give an absolutely different picture, the newspaper notes, adding that the discounts in stores primarily apply to the food products whose expiry date is close.
