International Day of the Resistance Movement is observed today
International Day of the Resistance Movement is marked annually on April 10 and is dedicated to all those who resisted the Nazis during World War II on the territories occupied by the troops of the Third Reich.
Resistance movement was organized with the participation of the inhabitants of the occupied territories, the opposing German troops, with a variety of forms of struggle against the invaders.
Resistance movement acquired the greatest scope in the Soviet Union, Italy, Poland, France, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria and other countries.
In each country, the resistance movement was deeply national in nature, but at the same time, it was an international movement, as was common to all peoples the goal of struggle – to defeat the forces of fascism, to liberate the occupied territories from invaders.
