Haykakan Zhamanak: Central Bank to purchase large amount of dollars to curb dram’s appreciation
The Central Bank of Armenia (CBA) intends to purchase a large amount of U.S. dollars from Armenia’s foreign currency market in the last decade of April to prevent a sharp appreciation of the Armenian dram, Haykakan Zhamanak reports.
Due to a large flow of foreign guests on the occasion of the Armenian Genocide centenary, the currency market will be overfilled with foreign currency and the Armenian national currency will appreciate sharply unless the CBA takes counter-measures, the newspaper notes.
