Saint Gregory of Narek declared Doctor of the Universal Church
Pope Francis declared Saint Gregory of Narek a Doctor of the Universal Church during the Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide on Sunday.
Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, Cardinal Angelo Amato read the request of many bishops, and asked the Pope to declare Saint Gregory of Narek a Doctor of the Universal Church.
Pope Francis declared that he is accepting the request of many bishops and the faithful, and is naming Saint Gregory of Narek a Doctor of the Universal Church.
