Haqqin.az: Azerbaijani authorities ban citizens hanging cloths on balconies ahead of European Games in Baku
Notifications that appeared on the walls of the houses in Baku centre banned exposing things and hanging clothes on the balconies overlooking the streets of the city, Azerbaijani media outlet Haqqin.az reports.
According to the article, those notifications appeared on the walls of the houses in the central districts of Baku yesterday. The residents of the city centre told the correspondent of the outlet that apart from the notifications, the inhabitants of practically every flat in the city centre had been warned. The residents said that the notifications had been hung by the officials of the executive authorities of the city.
Baku City Hall has taken up the step for the sake of the inaugural European Games, as Haqqin.az has it.
Earlier, at the beginning of January of the current year, there also came reports that the inhabitants of the Azerbaijani town Sumgait cannot hang the laundry on the balconies. The executive authorities of the town held a number of events regarding that, and the inhabitants of the town were warned. It was stated that the clotheslines not only spoiled the look of the city but also gave way to inconveniences. The inhabitants of the multi-storey buildings said that they had no choice other than hanging the laundry on the balconies.
In August 2013 the head of the Supreme Majlis of Autonomous Republic of Nakhchivan Vasif Talibov banned the Nakhichevan residents hanging out laundry on the balcony, walking in the street in groups, baking bread in tondirs, and holding funeral repasts.
