Despite threats, Turkey has no leverage against Vatican – expert
Despite the hysteria and threats by Turkey, it has no leverage against Vatican, so it will not be able to apply its traditional policy of blackmail and pressure that works in case of other countries, Turkish studies expert Levon Hovsepyan told Panorama.am.
In his words, Turkey is seriously concerned about what took place in the Vatican on Sunday. Turkey has no levers against the Vatican. It must be stated, however, that Ankara made much efforts to derail the Sunday’s Mass in the Vatican dedicated to the Armenian Genocide centenary, he noted.
“The Mass has a universal significance. It stood out in the context of the Armenian Genocide centenary for its unprecedented nature and importance. In this regard, the huge work carried out by Armenia’s diplomatic missions in the Vatican and Italy should be an example for the other diplomatic missions of Armenia,” said the expert.
